If you’re walking down the street and need to send a text message, you can use the voice activation feature to instruct your Android phone what to do. This is a much better option than potentially falling headfirst into an open manhole or crashing into a pole and winding up on YouTube, only to become the laughingstock of your company and friends.
To use voice activation, long press the Search button on the handset (it looks like a magnifying glass) and then speak into the phone. It is also possible to use the voice activation for various purposes, which include the following:
If you need to copy text from a web browser, it’s quite simple. Follow these steps:

I find this trick works on many of the Android models: AT&T Samsung Captivate, Verizon Droid X, Incredible 2, and the Xoom tablet.
Add the power strip widget
Since Android 2.1, a new widget that is a power control strip allows for the easy control of battery-destroying services such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. To add this widget, long press the Home screen and select Widget | Power Control. When the widget is added (Figure B), you can turn various services on and off with one tap.

If you want to add a shortcut to a website you frequent on the Home screen of your device, you can do that by following these steps:
Go to the website in the browser.
Now to get to the site, simply tap the shortcut, and the browser will open to that address.
View maps in 3D
The latest release of Google Maps offers a 3D view of maps. To view a map in 3D, swipe your fingers from the top to the bottom of the screen. To move around the map in 3D, place two fingertips on the map and move them in a circular pattern. Figure C illustrates how this 3D view looks on a Verizon Incredible 2.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been getting to know our new clients at Louisiana Urology LLC. We are looking forward to developing a strong business relationship and helping make their lives easier and business better with IT because when we do this, we also help an entire community of people seeking medical assistance. That’s something we are more than happy to do!
No business is successful without some form of advertising. Some depend on word-of-mouth, while others believe that a simple ad in the Yellow Pages will be enough to let prospective customers know of their whereabouts. This may work for some businesses, but it’s unlikely that they can reach their full potential without some form of online advertising. Things have changed, and we are living in a time when a simple question prompts people to search Google for answers (whether on computers or smart phones), not a phone book.
For this reason, it is imperative that businesses have a website, but that’s not quite enough anymore either. A website is just one way for businesses to provide computer-literate clients (a number that is steadily growing) with information, but clients are becoming more and more interested in interacting with their favorite businesses. This means that keeping them in-the-know of what is happening and allowing them to share a dialogue with the business and other clients is important.
Facebook, recently reported to have over 600 million active monthly users, is the perfect social networking site to host a business /client community. Just think about it. A lot of these users sign in regularly to the site, anywhere from a few times a week to several times a day. Now, though the latter type of user is obviously no stranger to the technology of the internet, he or she is unlikely to visit his or her favorite business websites on a daily basis. However, the chance of the user visiting the business website does increase exponentially when he or she sees a status update for the business pop up among all of their friends’ status updates.
Check out a few more advantages:
“1. Fan pages are visible to even those without a Facebook profile account. If you send a Twitter message or email with a link, anyone can view the page.
2. Fan pages are indexed outside of Facebook [which means] if someone does an online search of your company, this is one more link that will come up.
3. Not sure who your target market is? Facebook fan pages can help you figure that out. Each page keeps statistics of who your followers are and who is participating. It will tell you if they are male or female, their age range, where they are located and what language they speak.
4. With a regular Facebook profile you are limited to 5,000 friends. With a Facebook Fan Page[,] the number of fans is unlimited. This might not be a huge thing if you are just starting out, but always plan for your growth.
5. You can further establish your brand. People do business with people they trust. Social media is all about building the trust over time[,] and [Facebook] is a great way to do that”

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so we hope you’ve been considering ways to woo your love. But if you’ve been crunched for time, and this is the first you’re hearing of it, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.
Here are a few techy tips to showing your partner you care this Valentine’s Day:
Andrew Heller once said, “Technology is like a fish. The longer it stays on the shelf, the less desirable it becomes.” Well, he was definitely onto something.
How many of you have an old cell phone in a drawer at home? If you’re like me, you figured you may need it just in case something happened to your new phone, but that was ages ago, perhaps even a couple phones ago.
Now, when you pick up the bulky, walkie-talkie wannabe phone, you wonder what in the world brought you to the moment when you thought, I have got to own this one! And it’s true! There really does come a point in your life when you know there is absolutely no way you can go back to performing what looks like Morse code in order to text “C U L8R.”
It’s moments like these that I thank the powers that be for phones with full slide-out keyboards and the now popular, Swype feature. Now I can actually type a real paragraph, an essay even (if I wanted to)!
I felt the same way after using Windows 7 and then Windows XP. Are you serious, XP? I can’t create a split screen and have multiple items in my task bar in less than 1 second? Ugh! It’s amazing how much an upgrade can simplify your life. I would hate to part with Windows 7, and I’m glad, despite my hectic schedule, I learned about it.
There are so many technologies out there, and we don’t expect you to know about all of them. That’s why we do the research for you! Zalandas is always looking for new technologies that benefit you in your business or personal life.
Are you missing something? We just might have a solution for you!
Last year, we welcomed Massengale Grounds Management Inc. to Monthly Managed Care. MGM, Inc. is a complete landscape solution dedicated to nurturing long-standing relationships with clients who expect a premium, outdoor environment. Just as they have cared for their clients, they have cared for us, so we’ve been especially proud to give them the competitive edge necessary to grow their business. Recently, we were excited to hear they wanted us to be a part of their 5 year strategic plan. What a confidence booster! We are looking forward to a prosperous business relationship with them and in the near future, plan to start working on their website. In the mean time, you can click on “Cheers…” to connect with them via Facebook.
2010 was a great year for us, and during the next year, we at Zalandas are committed to keep the same promises which helped promote us to where we are today. We are honored and grateful to be connected to Lewy Physical Therapy and will continue to present ourselves as a dependable, honest and resource-efficient company over the next year.
“[BPS] is a pump rental and sales company based on the Louisiana gulf coast.” That’s not all though. Business has just gotten better for BPS because we’re providing them with Monthly Managed Care. What else could this possibly mean for BPS? We just made their lives easier. Hey, it’s what we do.
Today is the day you have that really important meeting. You know, the one that everything hinges on! So, you’re running out the door for work and realize you’ve got an unsightly stain on your favorite shirt, and try as you might, just can’t get it off. You’ve finally finished getting dressed for a second time because everything just doesn’t match the way it did before when you had THAT shirt on (i.e. the one you absolutely without a doubt needed to wear on this particular day). Now you’re sitting in traffic because it didn’t occur to you until you scrubbed the shirt for 2 minutes that it wasn’t going to come out and you needed to choose something else, which knowing you might take 10 more minutes. Now 45 minutes have passed, and as you walk into the office stressed because you know you have to prepare for the meeting, you are informed that those V.I.P.’s won’t be able to make it in, but they would like to have a webcam conference call in 20 minutes. Whew! What are relief, you think. I can definitely prepare in 20. Or…not! Once you sit down you realize something just isn’t working right, and it’s impossible that your IT guy can get there to fix it before you start. Or can he?
I don’t know about your IT guy or his magical abilities, but Zalandas can definitely help. We use remote access from where ever we are to fix your problems. “Remote access is the ability to get access to a computer or a network from a remote distance.” What you might not know is that you use remote access all the time. Something as simple as getting online is remotely accessing the Internet Service Provider or ISP. So, it’s very reliable. Contact us to learn more about how we can help you!
